I had to book tickets for some family tour at the end of this month.
As we were not able to get tickets from IRCTC, the most preferred site,I decided to try RAILTICKETONLINE.
But I had to register first……………….
While trying to register on RAILTICKETONLINE, the first thing I observed was there was a spelling mistake in the word “registration” on the main page.
So that increased my curiosity…………………
Also reminiscing Matt’s lesson every time I test now, I started registering myself.
There was an exception at the first attempt, then a few more errors and I could register myself.
The most interesting I observed was changing the date of my desktop PC reflected on the site’s calendar……………..
I did not feel confident to buy the ticket thinking that the secure server might not be secure
But before I stopped my curious tour of this site…………..I tried to retest the update functionality to update my name and again it failed it just did not allow me to update my name.
I found all this in less than half an hour ………I wonder how this site was signed off …………………..

25th September 2009, Time 9:55 pm as usual when I came online pop came Ajay’s question would you like to test an application now……….
So here we go…….
Application Name: Know Time-your Time tracker.
Version: alpha 0.0.1.exe
Time: 9:56 pm to 10:56 pm.
Testing Time:35 minutes.
I received the file in a text format via GTalk,I tested the application for around 20 minutes as I lost a lot of time well due to my impatience. Keeping in mind Pradeep’s suggestion of choosing one quality criteria. I had selected usability and navigation. I found a few bugs. And last but not the least ,I am really grateful to Ajay for all his support and help.
Learning’s:
1.) Most important to have patience, wait for instructions to complete.
2.) Having a mission of testing is more important.
3.) I need to read more extensively.
4.) Overall it was a good experience and I realized how important it is to practice.
Few observations:
1.) I had not waited for the instructions to complete and opened the txt file I had received, which I was not supposed to as it was an exe file.
2.) I lost a lot of time trying to convert the file from txt to exe, due to which I could test only for 20 minutes.
3.) While formatting the report I forgot to mention the application version which was pointed out to me later by Ajay

Hi,
Welcome to TestingExplorer . I am Jaswinder Kaur Nagi working as a Software Tester with Datamatics Global Services,Mumbai.I would be sharing my Learning's and views here. I thank Pradeep and Ajay for inspiring me to start this blog and would be always grateful to my Delivery Head Renu Ma'am,My Test managers Vishal,Jyoti and Naveen for sending me to attend Pradeep's Testing Workshop ,due to which I actually became aware of the "Real world of Testing".
And before I conclude these favorite lines from the poem by Robert Frost always keep me going...........
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
Keep visiting,
Thanks,
Cheers,
Jassi
